Choosing the right toy

Playing with toys is something everyone enjoys... the hard part is finding the right toys that can spark the imagination and improve creative playtime! The best toys are those that drive even your imagination, making the time to play a learning experience while the hands and mind stay busy.

While action toys can be fun and some children may think board games should be bored games, it is important for parents to offer their children a balance in their activities to insure balance in their learning, too. Remember that video games (that I personally hate), or DVDs, may keep children occupied but offer very little help to the learning process.

Games that spark the imagination and creativity must be part of the mix the children are involved with! Additionally, toys to develop coordination and teach about future ideas can be important to the learning process. Interest in the toys will play a big role in holding the child’s attention. Many toys, while great for learning, may not be of interest toy our child and if forced to play with that particular one, will not help any part of the development. They'll surely prefer character-based action figures from popular television shows and movies, but try to prompt creative play instead of holding to fixed stories!
